๐Overview
Mud fever is a legacy term commonly used to describe a skin condition now known as pastern dermatitis or greasy heel in horses. In human medicine, the term is not standard. When used in veterinary contexts, it refers to an inflammatory skin disorder affecting the lower limbs of horses, caused by prolonged exposure to wet, muddy conditions leading to skin irritation and secondary infection.
