๐Overview
Pertussis, frequently referred to as whooping cough, is a bacterial infection of the respiratory system caused by Bordetella pertussis. This condition can spread easily through respiratory droplets when an infected individual coughs or sneezes. Symptoms typically progress from mild cold-like signs to severe coughing spells that may end with a high-pitched whoop sound. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the disease.
