Pleuritis

This condition, often referred to as pleurisy, typically occurs when the two layers of the pleural membrane rub against each other during respiration. This inflammatory response is generally considered a manifestation of an underlying disease process, such as viral infections, pneumonia, or autoimmune disorders. Symptoms commonly include sharp chest pain that worsens with breathing, coughing, or sneezing.
