POEMS syndrome is a rare multisystem disorder characterized by a combination of Polyneuropathy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, Monoclonal plasma cell disorder, and Skin changes. It is a paraneoplastic syndrome associated with an underlying plasma cell dyscrasia. The term POEMS is an acronym describing the main features. Modern clinical practice focuses on identifying and managing the plasma cell disorder and systemic manifestations.
