๐Overview
Precocious puberty is the onset of puberty signs earlier than the typical age range, usually before age 8 in girls and 9 in boys. It is a well-recognized condition characterized by early development of secondary sexual characteristics. The modern terminology focuses on central precocious puberty (CPP), caused by early activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, and peripheral precocious puberty, which results from hormone production independent of this axis.
