Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis is a pediatric orthopedic condition characterized by the displacement of the femoral head relative to the femoral neck through the growth plate. This disorder primarily affects adolescents and is often associated with periods of rapid physical development.

The shift occurs at the physis, the area of cartilage responsible for bone growth. This structural change results in the ball of the hip joint slipping backward, which can alter the alignment and function of the hip joint during the teenage years.
