Takayasu Disease, also known as Takayasu arteritis, is a rare form of large vessel vasculitis characterized by inflammation of the aorta and its primary branches. This chronic condition may lead to the progressive narrowing, occlusion, or aneurysm formation within the affected blood vessels.

The inflammatory process within the vessel walls can disrupt normal blood flow to various parts of the body. While historically identified by its eponymous name, modern clinical literature often utilizes the term Takayasu arteritis to describe this specific vascular pathology.
