๐Overview
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency, leading to elevated blood glucose levels. It is the most common form of diabetes and is distinct from type 1 diabetes, which is primarily due to autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing cells. Type 2 diabetes is strongly associated with obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and genetic predisposition.
