Venous skin ulcer is a chronic wound that occurs due to poor venous blood flow, typically in the lower legs. It is a manifestation of chronic venous insufficiency and is also known as venous leg ulcer. This condition results from increased venous pressure causing skin breakdown and ulceration. Venous ulcers are the most common type of leg ulcers and differ from arterial or diabetic ulcers in cause and treatment.
