Medication Quick Facts
📋Overview
Carfilzomib is a type of targeted therapy known as a proteasome inhibitor. It works by blocking the action of proteasomes, which are enzyme complexes responsible for breaking down proteins in cells.
When these proteins are not broken down, they build up inside the cell, eventually causing the cell to die. This mechanism helps to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells that depend on these proteins for survival.
