Celecoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that selectively inhibits the enzyme COX-2. It is commonly used to manage pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Celecoxib is also sometimes used for acute pain and menstrual discomfort. Its selective action aims to reduce inflammation while minimizing some gastrointestinal side effects seen with traditional NSAIDs.
