Hypersensitivity Reactions

High doses of cephalosporins administered to patients with renal impairment have been associated with the development of seizures. General Precautions
- Drug Resistance: Prescribing Keflex in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit and increases the risk of developing drug-resistant bacteria.
- Laboratory Test Interference: Use of this medication may cause a false-positive result on a Direct Coombs' test. It may also interfere with certain urine glucose tests that use copper reduction methods.
- Prolonged Use: As with other antibiotics, long-term use may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, such as fungi, which may require additional treatment.
How to Take Keflex
Keflex is available as a capsule, tablet, or liquid suspension to be taken by mouth. It can be taken with or without food. To help you remember your doses, try to take the medication at the same times each day.
Using the Liquid Form
If you are using the liquid suspension, shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medication is mixed evenly.
