Medication Quick Facts
📋Overview
Truvada is a combination of two antiviral medications, emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. These components belong to a group of medicines called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).
The medication works by blocking an enzyme that the virus needs to make copies of itself. By interfering with this process, the drug helps to control the amount of virus in the body and reduces the risk of the virus spreading.
