I found Andrew Beischer very helpful courteous and approachable. Despite being a surgeon he advised conservative treatment and stressed the importance of an strictly followed exercise regime for my longstanding Plantar Fasciitis. He has a protocol in place in case this does not give relief with surgery as an absolute last resort. He works together with Melbourne Orthotics. They showed me a helpful DVD on this condition and also demonstrated the required exercises. They equipped me with a Plantar Fasciitis Kit and a better understanding of the condition. This meant I was confident to start treatment as soon as I was home. The clinic is very well organized and the staff very helpful and friendly. Dr. Beischer does not charge more for his consultations then other specialists. I felt I was in good hands.

I encountered Mr Beischer as a 53 year old public patient at Royal Melbourne Hospital ("RMH") about 2 years ago in need of a complicated achilles tendon repair. My achilles was so bad a tendon had to be transplanted from my foot. The surgery was performed by Mr Beischer's then fellow, Mr Jules Grundy, and has resulted in an outstanding outcome which has allowed me to continue to surf, play cricket and tennis and otherwise enjoy a more active lifestyle than most 55 year old men. My brief encounter with Mr Beischer was one of the more significant events in my life. His diagnosis, explanations and general demeanour were very professional. Unlike many health professionals, he did not treat me as if I was stupid despite my being a smoker. It is wonderful that such a man gives his time to people such as me at RMH. Finally, I stumbled across this site by accident and am appalled by some of the comments - they are more suited to some of the trashier football forums!

As a work cover patient at Royal Melb. i had Mr. Beischer operate on my ankle after 2 years of ongoing pain and frustration he agreed to do a fusion then at the last minute asked me to see him in his private rooms where he told me he would take me on even thou i was a work cover patient. When he saw me prior to the operation i asked him why he took me on and the reply will remain private but I will publically commend Mr. Andrew Beischer as a true gentleman with a monumental work load and dedication to his profession of helping people with injuries and conditions. So before you bag the man take time to talk to him and respect his decission as none of us wanted a condition that requires surgery. Peter

Dr Beischer was efficient, informative, and very knowledgeable about my foot & ankle condition and recommended the most effective treatment which was surgery. The surgery went off without a hitch and was no more expensive than surgery with any other very highly respected Orthopaedic Surgeons in Melbourne. Would definitely recommend Dr Beischer for any foot or ankle conditions.

Dr Beischer was very informative and sympathetic to my situation. Have been in pain for many years and could not be happier with the outcome of my surgery. Staff were helpful and always happy to answer any and many of my queries. Highly recommended!!

Very bad bedside manner. Business runs like a factory- no emotions, no thoughtfulness. Left feeling confused, frustrated and a lot poorer!

Receptionist rude. Andrew beischer walked in like he was on the set of Bold & The Beautiful, with a perfect tan and all smiles. However, he didn’t listen to a word I said and was rude, condescending and provided no other options or recommendations when he couldn’t help me. At this point he couldn’t get me out of there fast enough when he realised he wasn’t getting his next holiday from me.

The receptionist “greeting” me at the consulting room was terse, discourteous and generally unhelpful and unfortunately Dr Beischer was not much better. He was condescending, rude and was more interested in berating me in front of his intern for forgetting to bring my letter of referral, than offering me any of his “expertise” in regards to the fractured bone in my foot. After talking over the top of me whilst trying to explain injury, he glanced at my X-ray (didn’t even take it fully out of the envelope), poked my foot with his finger and then told me to go get a CT scan and make another appointment for next week. All this occurred in less than 3 minutes and I was then charged $240 for the privilege. Had the experience been a friendly & pleasant one, I would be more than happy to rebook. But due to the sheer arrogance and poor interpersonal skills I was treated to, I will not be returning to see Dr Beischer.

I had foot surgery (bunion and hammer toe) in 2014 with Dr Beischer. I did my research and obtained 3 opinions before deciding on Andrew and have no regrets. My case was probably text book perfect, all went exactly as he explained it, including the post-op pain bit, and I felt well informed and confident in Dr Beischer and his staff through the whole journey. In addition, I liked his bedside manner and found him quite personable and funny at times. Hope I don’t have to go back for the other foot but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and in fact have done so several times!
