Rude, arrogant, rushes you, no compassionate for the patient at all. We had two visits before at North York Emergency, the staffs were efficient, and the attending physicians were kind and professional. But this time, Dr. Helman has changed my view about the Emergency at North York. Sadly!

I went to the emergency with terrible abdominal pain and Dr. Helman was excellent. He had great bedside manner and explained my diagnosis clearly. I hope if I ever need to go the emergency again I'll get Dr. Helman.

I went in with severe kidney pain. I have had kidney infections before and I mentioned these. He sent me for an ultrasound, and when they didn't see anything, he said it must be just a UTI and gave me some basic antibiotics (which I found out later should NOT be used for kidney infections). How does that explain the kidney pain? Fast forward 3 days later and my fever is 103F and I'm sweating through my clothes, head pounding and using ice packs on my head, still in a lot of pain. Thank goodness I saw Dr Patel, she explained that ultrasounds don't really show kidney infections. She changed my antibiotics and said to take Tylenol for the fever. Now on the 4th day, here I am on and off with 103F fever, in and off with uncontrollable shakes, thank goodness I only got sick this morning and it stopped. Had Dr Helman took me seriously and gave me the right prescription, I wouldn't be laid up for 3 days off work and in this much agony right now. You should listen a bit more when your patients are telling you about pain in their body

Excellent doctor. He was attentive, kind and thorough. Explained my condition really well. Got all the tests I needed and took the time to explain the results to me which other doctors don’t do. I left the ER feeling much better.
