During my emergency visit and SHC Dr. Kao's failure to thoroughly assess my condition led to a critical oversight. Despite presenting with symptoms of pneumonia, the doctor's cursory examination missed crucial signs, resulting in a misdiagnosis. At one point he told me there was a real emergency to get to so go home and I would be fine. Unfortunately, this oversight meant that my condition worsened rapidly after leaving the hospital, necessitating a return visit (due to the lab finding bacteria in my blood) while in a deteriorated state. This frustrating experience highlights the importance of thorough and attentive medical care, particularly in emergency situations where timely and accurate diagnoses can make all the difference in a patient's outcome. My case could have easily been taken care of if I was provided an x-ray on my first visit. Instead his misdiagnosis, led to beginning stages of sepsis, a lumbar puncture, a blood patch, and missing a month with my children due to illness. I now suffer from ptsd every time I am sick.

He refused to send me away until he could diagnose my problem, which he did. I have been dealing with my issue for over a year. Great guy.

Dr . Jesse Kao. Easily worst doctor at South Campus. Unless you are incredibly sick or interesting he does not care.

Dr Kao saw a family member on a busy Friday night in the ER at South Health Campus. He is very professional and took time to answer questions and provided excellent care. Very gratifying to see Dr Kao and colleagues provide exemplary care in a system that is very heavily used. Everyone we encountered is a credit to the health system in Alberta. Well done!

I saw doctor Kao at the South Health Campus. I requested to be tested for a system-wide Fungal infection. He took one look at me, told me I was merely searching for answers, wouldn’t let me finish, replied that fungal acne doesn’t exist (It does:Pityrosporum (Malassezia) Folliculitis ), and basically rolled his eyes and told me to go and see a dermatologist. My heart rate was in the 30’s, and I was sent home. I have since been treated for a full body fungal infection, and am being tested for Lupus. Yes, this is how burnt-out an exhausted, self employed, athlete and mom can become. I’m sorry that my presence was an inconvenience to your day. I was in fact, really, really sick.
