I had inguinal hernia surgery on April 28/20. Dr Fletcher was very upfront and a straight shooter. Told me what was going to happen and that was that. Very short and to the point. Don’t think he’s a people person and neither am I. I had no problem with the surgery results and after 9 months am feeling good. I can see how he may offend some people the way he comes across but my skin is too thick to have that affect me.

Recently referred here for consult due to a family member having a disease which attacked the liver specifically To start this physician ran late – more than 15 minutes, but will overlook at this can happen although it should not. Disrespectful of patient time. Then accepted a call from his family member during the consult, this eats away the time he has to address my concerns and leaves one feeling they have been referred to the wrong specialist. Consults are billed to AHC based on the fact you are dealing with the patient, not putting out other fires or dealing with other distractions. If these were related to him being on call fine, but why on call when you are in clinic. He then proceeded with family history and made an extremely inflammatory statement about a family member and the disease they experienced which almost cost a life due to misdiagnosed illness of another specialist. I found this so insulting and presumptive on his part I did not feel this consult to be productive in any manner. The review and experiences on this physician range from terribly negative with surgical procedure that needed other experts to fix to the positive. My review is based on the negative experience-the arrogance I saw demonstrated and the lack of appropriate information to make the statements which were made to myself. Luckily in Alberta we do have a wealth of excellent physicians and surgeons which allows us the patient to move forward finding one that still seems to have compassion and caring about patients. When you review as with anything take the good and the bad and attempt to determine if this physician is qualified to address your needs as the patient. Providing respect, knowledge, understanding then you will have found the right and most qualified physician for your needs. I cannot recommend based simply on my experience with this gentleman. Maybe it is time to start winding down a practice when key elements of practice are long gone. If you need a surgery that is complicated Camrose is not equipped to manage these you will require the larger centres where additional resources are readily available.
