Recently started the dbt program and have found the therapists be the most challenging. Dr. Fitch However is super intuitive. I enjoy our appointments and she is warm and attentive. I felt a connection from the moment I met her which helps me understand her point of views easier and more openly. Her bedside manner is alright. Her choice of words can be confusing though. To be honest I’d rather have her as my therapist than any other therapist within the dbt program. Hee hee the secret is out! All in all I enjoy her personality and will miss her when the program is over. I love the fact that she was able to help me understand a different point of view. and having that ability means a lot to me considering I am quite stubborn. 🙂

Dr. Fitch is a skilled psychiatrist who has an excellent understanding not simply of Borderline Personality Disorder, but of mental health in general. Although I have walked out of a meeting with her before upset or disagreeing, when I thought about it later, I appreciate the fact that she was honest with me about her opinions. There was truth there, and things that I needed to think about. Not everyone is willing to say those things, and to try to figure out how to get me to hear it (whether it is now or after I think about it.) It is not easy to both challenge people and also make them feel understood at the same time. I feel sad to read some of the negative comments, both because I hear that people are in a lot of pain, and also because I have a different perspective on this. I find Dr. Fitch to be a warm person, personally.

She is going to be my new Doctor and can not wait!!. These reviews do not scare me off at all..I think she is doing her job and I agree people do not like the truth and maybe she was straight up but that is what I need!. I want to be well not in choas and self pity. If she is getting to you that means she may be challenging you..she probably believed in you as a person..We do not live in a utopian society not every Doctor will sugar coat words. Just remember she is as human as you are and in a program trying to help you.

    What are those numbers again???
Hate to break it to you but I did take responsibility for my treatment and got out of your program and went some where else because of the behavior of Dr. Kathy Fitch and the DBT Team. At the new place I found more patients of Dr. Kathy Fitch there. Also Dr. Kathy Fitch and the DBT should take their own course and advice because they certainly do not practice what they preach.

Being s psychiatrist or therapist often means patients will be angry at you and blame you for their problems. Dr. Fitch works with borderline population and it seems that some of her patients writing reviews don’t want to take responsibility for their own treatment. That’s part of the Illness. I also have BPD but I recognize that no one person is responsible for me and my happiness. If you were discharged because of your behaviour then I hate to break it to you but you’re the one that needs to change. People wil bpd will often take regular interactions as offensive or the wrong way, you need to be willing to change this if not then you aren’t ready for treatment.

Helpful, but can be harsh with her approach. Not sure if she really cares but I understand she needs to keep some distance. It must be difficult to keep hearing the histories of some of us while keeping a professional distance. I think she does a good job with the resources she has to work with.

If you are reading these reviews please bare in mind that most of her cliente has a history of borderline personality disorder or traits. After going through the DBT program with her and coming around to the other side, you too will see the amazing work that she does. When she sets boundaries with you it may feel like she's not helping you or is rejecting you. However, boundaries are extremely important for us all. If you continue to say you want help but then go ahead and reject everything she offers you, there isn't much she can do for you and you are basically discharging yourself from them program and walking out the door. No one can fight tooth and nail to keep you in the program if you continue to reject help and put in zero effort - it means that you aren't ready for it. You need to want to give up the roller coaster of emotions or at least learn to cope with it in healthier ways. She truly is an incredible psychiatrist who is very compassionate and amazingly can tolerate being reamed out on a daily basis because she loves her work and cliente.
