I was a patient of Dr. Millstein's for about two years before I made the decision to switch doctors. She was consistently behind by 20 minutes or more, would then rush me through my appointments and was generally a terrible listener. She frequently answered calls during my appointments that were not work-related and once even left mid-appointment after realizing she had forgotten to water her plant. During the time she did spend speaking with me during my appointments, I found her to be short and rather condescending. My mother was also a patient of hers and had the exact same experience. I have been with my new doctor for 2 months now and today I went to her to renew the prescription of combined birth control pills that Dr. Millstein had prescribed to me 6 months ago. After asking me some routine questions, my new doctor informed me that I should not be on combined birth control because as an individual who experiences migraines with auras, combined birth control puts me at risk of developing blood clots. Dr. Millstein was the first doctor to prescribe me birth control and over the course of the two years I spent as her patient I was on three different brands (all of which were combined). On no occasion did she ask me if I experience auras, despite her knowing that I have suffered from migraines from a young age. At no time did she even mention that any migraine symptoms might effect my use of birth control. I am shocked and very angry that she would be so careless. I am healthy and blood clot free, but her carelessness is unacceptable. I absolutely would not recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Millstein goes over and beyond the call of duty for her patients. She proactively reaches out to follow up or check in for ongoing medical conditions. She is optimistic, energetic, and friendly. We moved 40 mins away, and continue going to Dr. Millstein for these reasons. Yes, occasionally appointments start late, but we have to remember, she is serving the needs of MANY patients, not just us. If you want extra care when the situation warrants it, you can't be upset if an appointment before you runs a little late because she's doing just that for others.

Dr. Millstein had been my dr for many years. There was always long waits to see her but in the end she was quite helpful so I dealt with it. Lately, I had noticed some negative changes in her. She had become short-tempered and not very empathetic. The last time I saw her, there was an incident I will not forget. I had the first apt of the day. She walked into the office at 20 mins late. She was on the phone when she walked in, got herself settled and finally saw me 10 mins after that. So after a half an hour of waiting, I proceeded to tell her a couple of issues I was having. She then took a call from a patient and was on the phone for approx. 5-10 mins. I had no issues with this and totally understood that she had to take the call. When she got off the phone she rushed me and said she had other patients waiting. I told her it would just be another minute. She then got a call from one of the receptionists and all I heard her say was "Well, you can speak to my patient when she comes out". It took me a second to realize she was talking about me. I was somewhat confused and didn't really understand what was going on. I walked out and the receptionists both said to me "We were told we were supposed to speak with you". I replied with "About what". Then they both say to me "You can't do that", in an extremely rude tone. They were referring to the fact that she was running late. Apparently, Dr. Millstein did not want to take responsibility for the fact that she was 30 mins late seeing me, plus the 5-10 mins she had spent on the phone with a patient. Instead of explaining to the receptionists that she was late and had been on the phone she blamed her lateness on me and had her them scold me for taking too much time, when in fact it had nothing to do with me. I got home that day and could not stop thinking about what happened. She was so dishonest and I felt very wronged by her. I immediately began looking for another GP and have found someone that I am quite happy with.

Did not feel confident that this doctor needed a diabetic checklist every time I saw her. Would not discuss more than one issue per visit. Very money oriented. Contemplated filing a complaint with the OMA because of her refusal to refer me to a psychiatrist after a suicide attempt. Said she could help me herself but never did. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone!

I’ve been a patient of hers for several years and have consistently felt my concerns were not being met. Very money oriented. She does not require routine blood work, as such, I’ve had to argue and advocate for myself. She rushes through appointments, doesn’t hear me out on all of my complaints, asks me to book other appointments to further discuss. Can be condescending to you if you question her opinion, rather inquire more about the pros and cons of her prescribed treatment, and ask for an alternative approach. She is is great with children, and older adults 50+ based on my family’s experiences, but when it comes to young adults in the 25-30 range my concerns are dismissed.

I’ve been a patient of Millstein’s for 3 years now. She is pretty thorough with her exams, although sometimes too thorough that she tends to forget. Case in point, at the beginning of the exam she told me she wanted to give me a Tetnus shot, but totally forgot about it by the end of the exam – called me later to say she forgot and asked me to book an appt to come back (scatter brained). Absolutely great with my kids, remembers them very well and their history. I agree with some of the other reviews – that she does prefer to refer to specialists. As she gains experience she will improve I’m sure. The british receptionist isn’t the friendlies, so don’t get on her bad side.

I agree: Would not discuss more than one issue per visit. Great that she makes more due to increased patient traffic but the patient needs to take time off work. If this way of dealing with patient concerns isn’t against OMA rules it should be.
