I saw him as a child in the late 80’s and am still dealing with the problems he created in our families life. His answer to everything was to take medications. He recommended I go to a special needs school as a teenager even though I was an honor student in my school. I was then kicked out of that school after a few weeks because I didn’t have special needs.

This man should have his licence taken away.

This man needs to retire. I’m sure he was on top of his game in the 70’s. We visited recently to receive an assessment and some advise as our son is struggling with his emotions and behavior at school. Dr. Blackman has a very hard time communicating. We struggled to understand him most of the time. He asked if there was “retardation” in our family and asked little to no questions about my family history but a ton about my husband’s. He also mentioned that our problems today with children are that mother’s aren’t staying home to raise their young. It’s 2020.. stay away ladies. He rambled on about things that had no connection to our reason for being there. He was friendly to my son, I’ll give him that but we did not benefit from the 1.5 hour appointment at all. I was asked to be referred to another doctor which has been great.

Before we saw Dr. Blackman, I looked at reviews and thought it must be a lot of angry people that didn’t hear what they wanted. But it truth, I wish I would of believed what I read and requested to see someone else. After meeting with another psychiatrist, I now know how unprofessional this doctor is. My daughter saw him for more than a year. He was late 95% of the time. Our appointments were mainly him talking to my daughter for 5-10 min, then him talking to me for 45 min or more. He talked to me about her for maybe 10 mins of that and the rest was personal information about him and his other patients. He is hard to understand, he mumbles and his voice is quiet. He assures you that he is going to fix your child and make them better. But at the same time, he dismisses your concerns like it’s normal child behavior. My daughter suffers from depression and anxiety. She and I were consistently telling him problems that she was having and he didn’t think they were anything to worry about. We brought in a letter from a psychologist from school and his tone and words were like he was offended that she was talking and getting help from someone else.

The only reason we stayed for so long is because his office is connected to group counselling for youth. My daughter seemed to benefit from it. But she chose to see another psychiatrist to help her with her mental health and get proper medication, knowing the risk that she would probably be kicked out of group therapy. And that is what happened, she is not allowed to go, because he is the ‘supervisor’ of the program. She never saw him during group therapy. He was always in his office.

Fast forward to now, and a new psychiatrist, we find out she has O.C.D. and the medication he prescribed her is making it worse. If I have any advice for anyone that is reading to see what this doctor is like, PLEASE see someone else. It is a waste of time and frustration. Psychiatrists are to talk to you about your child and prescribe the medication they need and suggest the counselling that would help. They DO NOT talk about their personal lives or past patients.

Brought my daughter here and we both felt worse then when we went in. Made to feel like a terrible mother with a problem child. He didn’t listen to her at all and kept interrupting. You can barely understand him as he mumbles Terrible physican He really should retire. I can’t believe he treats children First think he wanted to do was up her medication and called my family doctor stupid That will be the one and only visit

Had a lot of hope going to him and it quickly faded after he googled my med dosage and after an attempted suicide all he said was “girls who look like you don’t kill themselves” also always late, never remember my name or my problems every appointment. Very disappointing.

He was paid $3500.00 for an independent psychiatric exam so that I could return to work. His receptionist was very rude and treated me like I was nobody when I called to confirm the address of the office a few days prior to the assessment. If there was a zero on the scale I would rate my experience "O" instead of a "1". He rated in favor of the employer so that I couldn't return to work when in fact my regular psychiatrist and family doctor had already rated me fit to work symptom free of depression. I told him I had no symptoms during my visit and no problems in daily life. I could not believe the report written. Now I'm stuck, because I can't go back to work, I'm fully capable of working and I can work. It's just hilarious how these Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) doctor's can bias their opinion and write false information on reports.

This is the worst Doctor I have ever seen in my life. If it weren't for the fact that I was forced to go see him for an independent assessment I would have never seen him. He does whatever the organization that hires him and pays him wants him to do and/or say on the report. I would never forget my experience with him 10 years after it happened. He must have destroyed so many lives. It is so sad. I am doing much better and leading a healthy life but that single experience with him almost destroyed me and my future. I am not surprised that they use him for independent assessments since he sides with the organizations that hire him and not the employee.

WCB shill. Only after my WCB IME, did I discover RateMDs. Talked about his previous life/immigration to Canada with me, too! Called his office & spoke to a rude receptionist (moot point), too! The visit was all talk, no tests. His report was a detailed character assassination, dwelling on my misspent youth & discredited my adult / current life picture. Many inaccuracies at that! Look, I really count on raw & unflattering truths from experts, so that I may grow, but what he did was dangerous to me. CanLii is an eye-opening resource: it appears Many of his reports are 'nothing wrong, no work restriction' & end up in the appeal system. Proceed w/ caution & be proactive in your recovery: people with issues who are forced into corners can do disastrous things. Trust a Dr! He is surprisingly old / past retirement age; & I truly had hopes that wisdom would be his trademark. What a disappointment. I certainly will vet Dr's prior to meeting them from now on. Re: the review that mentions impressive credentials... are you kidding?
