In Jan 1993 I started having seizures. I would not loser consciencousness or anything so it was hard to detect what the problem was. I saw 7 family Dr's. Finally someone referred me to Dr Roberts in the spring of 1994. I waited at the Mis to see him for a half hour. Finally when I went in her did an exam, asked me a few questions and gave me a prescription for AED's. He pinpointed what it was in minutes. I have been stabalized ever since on my AED's. True he does not waste any time nor does he mince any words but this man knows his stuff. Unfortunatley I think his personality is what turns people off and they miss that he is quite smart and good at what he does. As far as the follow-up (I saw him years later as well), unless he is very concerned that there may be a problem or if you ask for another appointment he lets you go on your merry way.

An absolute waste of time seeing this doctor. Was not interested in giving me a diagnosis, and gave little information about my symptoms.

He was rude and didn’t take the time to actually talk about my symptoms. Just looked at the test results and since my tests didn’t show anything to do with my eyes he wasn’t interested in hearing about other symptoms I have. I got more neurological questions and referrals… From my ophthalmologist.
I left his office in tears because of how rude he was.

Dr. Robert’s kept calling me a liar regarding my weakness and tremor issues. He was incredibly rude and abusive. I have degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, severe Scoliosis, and gastroparesis. All verified by scans and tests in the past. My more recent tests only reported on the new changes seen so he said I was making it up. Then he said to see a spine surgeon and I told him no spine surgeon would see me because of the botched surgeries I had on my spine previously. I told him I had letters to prove it and he again said I was lying. He wouldn’t let me speak and kept cutting me off. He also wouldn’t treat me with medication for the tremor because he said I am on too many meds. I take 4 meds a day. One is synthroid, pantoprazole for heartburn, percocet low amount for pain, and cymbalta for pain and depression. Now I shake badly all day and I told him I can’t live with it. He didn’t care.

I see why some people may find Dr. Roberts’ bedside manner a little brusque, as he is an older gentleman and his demeanor may seem stern to some, but I found him to be jovial, pleasant and humorous at times. He seemed very knowledgeable and discussed treatment options with me and their pros and cons, and the potential side effects to expect. I feel I was well treated.

I will Give this a fair assessment as I can.
I went to Dr Roberts, and the first time he was very kind, and patient. He tried to assuage my anxiety. I thought he was a kind person. I thought wrong.
The second time I saw him, he immediately asked why I was there, almost accusatory of wasting his time, telling me there was nothing else to look at.
I have really rare symptoms that I won’t get into, but you can clearly see them. As well, I showed him some videos of the symptoms happening on my phone (physical) and he agreed that they were happening (thanks) but he became very dismissive.
When I had suggested a few things, he had to google them, and then told me he couldn’t test them at all, and basically don’t worry.
He was trying to get me out and I had to really dig my heels in. I had waited 3 months to see him. He was so rude, I don’t think I recovered from my anger for 2 days. I’m still very frustrated, but need to let it go… there are doctors like this who will make you feel very stupid. Don’t let them do this.
He was at first kind, but he turned into the worst person, rude and also cowardly if I may say. When I challenged him, he backed down, and wouldn’t even make eye contact.
I don’t want to comment on his personal life like some have on this forum, but I will say that he seems like he doesn’t know how to handle people, or their questions when he doesn’t know the answer. You can’t hide arrogance and rudeness forever.
So I’m happy people have had good experiences, as I had. But if you contradict him, you’re in for a difficult time.
As for his knowledge, he dismissed my questions, and even read off other co-symptoms of another disease I asked about, telling me “you don’t have that symptom or that.” When I actually have medication to treat both symptoms (insomnia and hyperhydrosis). It was like being in a Kafka story. He just ignored my responses.
I highly recommend going to another doctor.
