Professor Silburn is a wonderful and kind person. He allayed any fears I had. Explained everything clearly to my husband and myself. I now have my life back and just cannot thank him enough. His staff are just as wonderful. I cannot thank him enough for everything thing he has done for me.

Prof Silburn is a life saver!!! He has changed my life dramatically for the best!! He is so kind and down to earth ! I cannot speak highly enough of his treatment of me!! He listened when nobody else did!! I am so fortunate to be able to speak to him so freely about my ailments and he always knows what has to be done. The other Staff are just as helpful and accommodatinf as well

Prof Silburn is a kind man, with good nature and is very down to earth which is refreshing The waiting room is always full and therefore the clinic is busy as is Peter! The young girls on the front desk are busy also, as is nurse karen. love the team. i make sure to have a list of things to ask as well as necessary scripts always good to see the prof

We were referred to Prof Silburn when every avenue 4 my husband was xhausted. On our 1st visit he talked us thru the DBS n than said let me know when u r ready. That was on March 2nd,2011 at St Andrew hosp. We have never looked back. He had 2 nurses, Kelly n Karen who were there when he couldnt. when our neuro Dr O'Sullivan was away 1 call 2 Prof Silburn n he arranged a late app 2c my husband n admitted him 4 a week n sorted the DBS out at a great result. If he was ever 2 say i"ve had enough of all this negativity alot of people would b in big trouble. If u arent happy, dont b afraid 2 speak up. I do.

Dr Silburn is only good when things go well but when things go wrong - he is not so interested. My mother had a DBS operation performed by Dr Silburn and the neurosurgeon. Within 6 months she lost her balance completely and broke many bones in her body. Dr Silburn did not seem concerned, at all. After 12 months we were forced to go elsewhere. We discovered that one of the electrodes was misplaced and stimulating the wrong part of the brain causing the balance problem. This has since been fixed and my mother's quality of life has greatly improved. When things like this happen, it can be very lonely and confusing as we rely on the expertise and compassion of the treating specialist. As one of the other reviewers remarked - it was not until I read the NSW Coroner's report and saw how that patient was treated - I even saw some similarities - for example, short consult and positive claims with no risk information given. Then problems with making post operative appointments and inadequate postoperative care. Something I understand now which I was confused about, at the time. And from the most recent reviews - it certainly does appear that things have not changed. If anybody is considering DBS treatment - you must understand that it is a very individual process which requires a lot of tweaking and checking of the position of the electrodes after the operation to ensure that the correct area of the brain is being stimulated. otherwise balance and breathing, for example, can be impaired. The hospital that fixed my mother's problem, for example, placed her in a DBS patient treatment plan which ran for 2 weeks.

Years after my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, Peter Silburn and his team have been a constant in my father’s ongoing struggle with this disease and continue to find ways to improve his quality of life. Fifteen years on we are grateful to have been referred to Dr Silburn; a talented and busy man who feels more like family than our treating practitioner.

I take my mother and mother-in-law to Dr. Silburn as they both have Parkinsons Disease and he is very compassionate and helpful with advice. No matter how hopeless things seem he usually manages to bring a smile to all our faces and the future doesn’t seem quite so bleak. They both feel relaxed about talking to him about their problems and he is honest about their situations but explains it in terms which they understand.

Wow, what a great man! Professor Silburn is kind,compassionate and caring. He is such a positive influence in my life. I am a young person with PD and I have been a patient of Professor Silburn’s for 6 years. He has always encouraged me in the things I want to achieve in the future.
