He was very caring to begin with but as time passed he seemed to become disinterested and was not helpful at all.

A member of my family has been a patient of Dr. Silburn for a long time. In the beginning he was informative, kind and caring but as time went on and things didn't go to plan he didn't want to know. He needs to look good and will not address any issues that don't make him shine. He is a master of illusion who charms yoy into a false sense of security. He does not follow through with promises. He does not reply to emails or phone calls not even out of an act of coutesy. He he mean angry streak and will twist things to put the blame back on the patient and their family. Also he spends so much time out of the country patient care is lacking, there is not even a Dr on stanby if an emergency arises you just to wait upon his return. You put your faith and trust in a doctor to care for you don't expect that from this one look else where.

Initially he was lovely ,but as time progressed and my husband suffered more and more from Parkinson's. Dr Silburn would not return the calls from our GP who was doing his best to help my husband.. We had to find another neurologist who was upset to see the condition my husband was left in by Dr Silburn . The mother of a friend of mine also saw Dr Silburn for Parkinson's and complained that he did not do much. Dr Silburn asked the mother to walk a small distance in the consulting room and said she was doing fine. She was not doing fine and not coping. Shortly afterward the mother walked into the ocean and drowned. I volunteered to give the news to Dr Silburn . There was no sign of any compassion or investigation to th e driving force of her suicide. Yes ,I agree with another comment on this site . tHere are 2 sides to this man.

I go to Professor Silburn mostly for my Cervical Dystonia. and Neurological medical issues. MY husband attends each visit with me. We have known him for almost two years? and he has given us through his treatments to me a level/quaility of life we can endure easier. We believe him to be a man of high integrity, caring, and we are joyous to have found him. A man of such expertise , amidst his spirit of humility. is are characteristic, which we have not found in our journey of other Neurologists. We cannot praise him enough for the wonderful human being that he has been to us. :)

After going from specialist to specialist throughout Brisbane and not getting any solid answers about my condition I was referred to Dr. Peter Silburn as he specializes in Parkinson’s disease, which most Dr’s thought I had because of my shakes. After being in his office for approximately 5 minutes with him reading my history he then said that I do not have Parkinsons disease, but could not tell me what I have. As soon as he said that, he really didn’t want to know me. He is such an arrogant SOB and I would not recommend him at all, especially if you do not have parkinson’s disease.

The recent coroners report alluding to a patient suicide unfortunately underlines his totally inadequate pre op info and post op care for DBS. Patients and family are NOT full informed of what can go wrong, particularly in the area of psychiatric, non motor effects. When something does go wrong, it is impossible to reach this doctor. He does not respond to repeated emails, messages etc He was very pleasant and empathetic until after the op when my family and I were left totally without support to face devastating difficulties, Peter Silburn just ignored the fact that anything had gone wromg.

I have had the same lack of post surgical support. He appears to be a Jekyll and Hyde. Pre surgery all I heard were positive reports about him but I wasn’t one of his “model” patients . He will not release my medical records to me after 7 months of requests. Recently i had to submit a complaint to the Qld Health Ombudsman . ( Complaint number two after Deep Brain Surgery number two)

Excellent doctor who is a world leader in his specialist field. Peter Silburn retains the human and caring qualities that distinguishes him from many of his peers. Working in the medical field myself and recently had successful DBS, it is important to realise how demoralising working in a speciality like neurology can be. Diagnoses such as Alzheimers and Motor Neurone Disease are difficult for patients and practitioners to deal with. Luckily Dr Silburn has been able to provide more hope to people suffering with conditions such as Parkinsons which were previously regarded as invariably devastating and debilitating. I am certainly grateful to pioneering doctors like Peter Silburn.
