I am a patient of dr Silburn. I underwent the Deep brain stimulation procedure and my life has been changed. He has always been available to me and his staff are also readily available to answer any questions. This man has changed my life and has done so for so many others. A wonderful dr doing wonderful things.

As another respected expert in this field said to me, “Peter Silburn is fine when all goes well. When it doesn’t, he doesn’t want to know.” Be VERY careful when dealing with this doctor. He does not give patients the full picture about what can happen post op. As a result you can not give ‘informed consent’. He does the op, you get an initial improved result but when you need more help, you will be on your own. The coroner’s report into what happened to one of his patients will put you in the picture. He has NOT changed his protocols as he told the Coroner.nand has many dissatisfied patients, There are much better neurologists in Australia than this man

Dr Silburn performed DBS on me in Jan 2012. The DBS was not a success. So in Oct 2014 Dr Silburn finally agreed to consult with Dr Terry Coyne to have the Medtronic device removed. He suggested Dec 2014 for the removal. He confirmed this in a report, Oct 2014, to my G.P. One year has passed and in spite of numerous calls to the offices of Dr Silburn and Dr Coyne the date for the operation to remove the device has still not been confirmed. My G.P. has also asked for clarification but his request has been ignored. I know that Dr Silburn is very busy but this past year of waiting and being ignored has been very stressful to me. I am not surprised that he has been reported to the Ombudsman nor that the recent Coroners report was unfavorable.
It appears that Dr Silburn gives ongoing support to those of you who have had successful outcomes but he has no further interest in those of us who have failed to respond. In the meantime I continue to pay private hospital in the hope that one day I will be given a date for the removal of my failed DBS device.
