The front desk clerk was extremely friendly and outgoing and made me feel safe. Dr. Tang-Wai was funny and energetic and extremely knowledgeable. I left his office feeling heard and understood.

When I began slipping into an episode it was nice to have Dr. Tang Wai hold out his hand. It has now been a couple of years being blessed with the care Dr. Tang Wai offered. I say offered as I was still making my own decisions. Good or bad as they seemed at the time I accepted his listening ear and advice. I am doing well once again thanks to this kind man.

Dr Tang Wai saw my husband 10 days before my husband Suicided. My husband had worked for the City of Calgary for 28 years and was burned out, depressed and anxious about returning to the same facility. My husband had never been on stress leave or WCB in his entire career. This doctor, who we were pressured into seeing by the City of Calgary HR department, totally discounted my husband’s concerns about going back to work to the same facility. The doctor told me that the return to work could go “one of two ways” . It clearly went one of three ways and my husband couldn’t face another week at the same facility. The Dr’s recommendation that my husband go back to work in the same capacity was the trigger that caused the suicide. My husband was willing to take a graduated return to work but needed to work at a different job. He clearly is motivated by an agenda for the Employers and Insurance companies and lacks the expertise required to deal with these types of cases. He missed the signs and discounted the seriousness of my husband’s feelings and state of mind. After 28 years of exemplary service to the City of Calgary, both his employer and Dr. Tang-Wai failed my husband.

Not the best doctor for me. I had gone through a huge crisis (my husband disappeared leaving me unable to pay for my mortgage so I lost my home and had to move in my father who is an alcoholic and abused me as a child resulting in foster care). He actually told me that I did not take the antipsychotics he prescribed that he would require my father to take over my care. I stopped taking them after he was no longer my doctor and have had no problems since moving out on my own again and regaining my life after my devastating setback.

This doctor came to our facility to see a former patient. He was very close-minded to new issues that have come up in her care. He basically wrote the patient off, even before he had a chance to see her. He was very nonchalant about getting information to understand the entire picture. He was unwilling to work with other professionals to help make a difference or offer other alternatives. Not a team player but sadly, an even worse patient advocate.
