Absolutly terrible doctor. Plays head games with his patients which is really bad considering he's a psychiatrist. Lies, withholds information, changes plans regarding treatment without informing the patient, breaks his word, twists things around to make the patient look like the bad guy. Also extremely rude and ignorant. Feel bad for anyone who ends up with him as their doc.

Not a good doctor at all. Has no regard for patients or what is best for them. Lies...says one thing then does another. Treats patients like 💩 Does not care how nurses treat patients either. If i could have given zero stars, then i would've. Does things without advising the patient about it.

Another psychiatrist I saw once told me that it is imperative the doctor never work harder than the patient, and Dr. Tang-Wai is definitely of this same mindset. Doesn't sugar coat anything, which is a shock if you've only known sugary types. If you truly want to get better, you need to follow his advice and trust him. If you just want to whine and complain about your predicament, and you won't do what it takes to get better, this is not the doctor for you. My husband hated him, but had to admit later that what he really hated was the message. He was hoping for an easy pill fix, not something that required him to change his routines, his mindset, his diet, etc. If you go in and see this doctor with an open mind, and be aware he is going to tell you straight what he thinks, and you can accept that, you're halfway better already.

I met with Dr. Tang-Wai yesterday for a consultation and assessment. I was extremely apprehensive about the appt however the doctor was kind and compassionate. He asked a lot of questions, was attentive and sought to ease my anxiety. He cared about my mental health and was concerned that I was receiving the care that I needed. I would consider seeing him again if the opportunity arose.

Terrible doctor. Terrible staff. Treats patients with extreme mental health issues like complete garbage and allows his staff to do the same. I had some pretty horrible things done to me while under his care. I was treated terribly because of my situation and because he and his staff felt I was annoying. I was having a severe mental health issue!!! Isn’t that your job to deal with it? Aren’t you the people who are trained for this? Where in your training did they teach all of you that abusing patients is ok? Might as well pay a 12yr old to do your job cause they could probably do it better. You really shouldn’t allow your staff to swear at patients or constantly lock them in their room just cause they find them annoying? Some of the stuff done to me I’m not even going to say on here because it is extremely upsetting and embarrassing. He and his staff have actually caused me to have ptsd from my experience on their ward. Thank God I worked through my issue on my own (the one I was there for) and got through it no thanks to him and his team. It really sucks that people end up in the care of doctors like this (and nurses just as bad) and are treated like they are worthless garbage because of mental health issues that they can’t help having. People get placed in their care and are not allowed to leave until he says so. You’d think having a mental health issue is a crime. They treat you worse than people who have committed terrible and violent crimes. I can’t wait for the day karma gets him (and his staff).

I say Dr Tang-Wai in urgent psychiatry assessment in 2017. He was very kind and compassionate. As well as very knowledgeable in many areas. He offered many different modalities of treatment. He listened attentively. He asked open-ended questions that allowed me to say what I need to say without feeling judgment or pressure.

The worst psychiatrist I have ever met in my entire life. Not only incompetent, but he literally has distain for his patient population (vulnerable people with mental illness). He treated my family member in his unit like a disposable piece of garbage to be discharged at will, when he was psychotic, suicidal, and homicidal. Surprise…he killed himself within 2 weeks of this discharge and there was no follow up from his unit on quality of care regarding the decision to release our loved one from his mental health act forms after talking to him for 5 minute (this is standard medical practice to review any death within a month of a hospital release). If I wasn’t already so tired from fighting the mental health system to get help for my loved one because of people precisely like him, I would probably have sued him for medical malpractice.
