Dr. Barr performed a ureteroscopy on my mum to remove an impacted stone in her ureter. I am a physician and I am aware that this is a simple procedure and that the patient should be able to go home after a couple of hours. We kept asking the nurse when can we leave and she said that Dr. Barr didn't leave any discharge instructions on my mum's chart. We waited for 8 hours until he finally finished his procedures in the OR and came up to the unit. I asked the nurse to tell him to talk to us so that I can take my mum home. She went and asked him and he told her: I will deal with them in the morning !!! I was very frustrated by that but we had no choice but to spend the night in the hospital as I wanted him to give us the exit prescription. In the morning at 11 am I was informed by the nurse that Dr. Barr has decided that he won't speak to us and that we can go home now if we want to !!! I was pissed by the fact that we had to stay 24 hours in the hospital for nothing but that wasn't it !!! I asked for the exit prescription and to my utter surprise there was a very important medication that is supposed to help prevent the formation of kidney stones missing from the prescription !!! I told the nurse to page Urology and for 2 hours there was no response. I decided to go to his office and ask the secretary if he has any appointments today and she indicated that he has. She took my phone number and said that she will call me once she had a chance to talk to him. I waited for an hour and no once called. I went back to the office to ask the secretary and she told me: Dr. Barr said this is an inpatient issue and that I have to talk to the nurse !!! I told her: can I have a chance to speak with him ? She told me: actually he is not in the office till Thursday !!! He told her to lie to me !!! How did she speak to him if he was not in the office !!! And why didn't she call me back !!!! For your information, my mum is a terminally ill brain cancer patient who is paralysed, blind and mute, and he knows this !!!! I am a physician and I am telling everyone who reads this to avoid this assehole at all costs !!! Plus there is nothing special about him, any urologist can do a ureteroscopy, it is not rocket science.

This dude is such a dick. Fitting actually. Left me in severe pain for years, could barely move because he told me my condition was incurable when he was too inept to know the surgery I required. Total hack who believes his time is more valuable spent on things he knows about than his patient. I’d argue he violated my rights under the Canada health Act, but I’m not a lawyer, but I’ll be consulting one soon.

Dr. Barr does not explore any opinion but his own.

The other reviews here puzzle me. Dr Narr did not mince words but he was very compassionate (as compassionate as someone can be who had to deliver such news every day), very informative. Procedure went well, his team experts put me at ease going in. Recovery going very well. Nothing but good things to say about him and all of his staff this stage.

Amazing, caring, excellent doctor. The waiting room was full, it’s a very busy place, however my appointment was on time. Dr Barr and his nurses were compassionate, provided excellent care, and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. You are in good hands with Dr. Barr.
