I had the misfortune to be stuck with Dr. Bauer after my husband had a heart attack. He never voluntarily provided any information on my husband’s condition and I was constantly chasing his secretary, begging to have him call me back to let me know what was going on with my husband. If you get him as your cardiologist, ask for another.

Dr. Bauer attended to my mother in Humber River. After she was released from the hospital, I had to deal with Insurance Companies re claims for home care expenses. Although it had been almost two months since her release, I contacted Dr. Bauer several times asking for letters etc to send to the insurance company. NOT TOO MANY doctors would take the time and without asking for any renumeration to do this. He is the last of a dying breed of physicians in this Country. D. Morissette Toronto, Ontario

Not a good doctor if you’re really sick. If you have a straightforward concern- ie. Obvious ECG changes/elevated trops- then he can find out what is wrong. If your symptoms are more complex- get a second opinion. Doesn’t listen to his patients and look for symptoms.

Dr. Bauer is fantastic, he is professional, knowledgable and compassionate, he has all the skills and traits that are needed to be an excellent doctor. I have always rec’d quality care from Dr. Bauer; additionally his assistant Mary Jane is wonderful, she will always go the extra mile to assist a patient with an appointment or question. Fantastic is all I can say about Dr. Bauer and Mary Jane.

I had a heart Angiogram procedure with him and I asked if he would do it himself and he said yes. Later a resident not even a fellow did my procedure. I had other options and did not want to be a training subject.
For almost 2 weeks after the procedure I had burning in my heart but I survived. At the time of same procedure, since I had nobody to stay with me I told him if he couldn’t arrange a night stay at the hospital I would prefer to do it somewhere else. He assured me even just before taking me to Cath Lab. Later he came back and said he couldn’t keep me there. For the first night at home and alone I stayed up all night with 911 ready on my phone in case I needed it. I will not see him again even if he is the last cardiologist on earth.

I did not meet this individual as a physician but as a prospective employer. I was invited for an interview and did attend - I did not get the job. Long story short - about a week later there was a message on the voicemail at my job asking my present boss (also a physician) to call Dr. Bauer, he also said in the message it was "not patient related". I was at my desk when my boss called him back, she came out of her office and she was visibly irate but never said a word to me. About 3 months later I was out of a job - word around was Dr. Bauer told her I had applied to his job posting. I just think this was so unscrupulous and still makes me wonder if he discusses his patients medical histories to anyone who would listen.

Does not explain anything, unless you ask him he won’t say anything! Like every word coming out of his mouth is a dollar sign. He will ask his nurse to come talk to the patient instead and even the nurse doesn’t know what to say, but, you have to call Doctor Bauer’s office to book an appointment! Then I asked if I could get his number and the nurse said “google it”! Really?!!! What the Ffff! Don’t go see this Dr if you want to live!

Saw Dr Bauer today and as always such a pleasure to see him . He explained my echo and eased my mind and set up a follow up appointment for next year. He’s a very gentle calm Doctor and he takes the time to listen to all of. my concerns

In my case I also had an ASD, but he did all possible tests to find it. Ultrasounds, MRI, bubble tests, etc. I guess ASDs are not easy to see. I too had a stroke but in my case he never stopped looking until he figured out what caused it. I don't think ASD was the case, but then again I'm no doctor. I went to second Doctor she was a shame THAT doctor I did rate poorly, she definitely didn't even look at my file. I have a friend who had the exact same experience, until she had heart stroke they found ASD after 2 years of heart problems. So I don't think it's a doctor thing but a difficult thing to find. My dad is a McGill graduate from med school and missed my ASD, which tells me even my parents missed it.. Bauer is a great doctor and human being. Hats off for him. Judith Garza.
