From my in-person experience with him today, his ego is way too high and he thinks he's better than everyone. Very rude too if I may add. Would NEVER schedule an appointment with him

Horrible experience! Needs to work on professionalism.

As a G.P. he is a very knowledgeable. Unfortunately his ego surpass his ability to communicate with the patient. I hope he will find an area in medical field where he can excel and bring more value to the person in need.

I have never experienced a doctor more rude, condescending and terrible to deal with. He lacks empathy to say the least! He is so unprofessional I am not sure how he has patients. I honestly do not believe he should be in the position he is in he is not helpful. I can go on about our "phone appointment" due to covid but I am to frustrated to type out all the wrongs. I would NOT recommend him for any type of medical attention you need especially not mental health which is such a huge issue and for a doctor to lack any sort of empathy and be condescending is beyond me. SHAME ON YOU!

On several occasions Dr. Kahane told me “I dont even know you” and dismissed my concerns.
If I came with any requests from my own research, I was out of line to even bring it up and that infuriated me.
One time he had a resident, a kind young man, who listened to me and was willing to help at least find some better solutions, and offered to see me in a few weeks to see how Im progressing. Then as Kahane came back, to “review” his work, basically made him all wrong and reversed the position of the resident in every aspect.
I sense no empathy or compassion from this person, I really question why someone with this kind of persona would choose to be a family physician.
On my last call with him, he literally said I can’t care for you, cause I dont know you. And suggested I find another doctor.

It starts in reception where i see the receptionists put patients on hold while they continue their personal conversations and then get to the patient. Astounding. Have had many visits with this Doctor and I could reiterate what other folks have said about arrogant and borderline abussive. He has great difficulty in responding to the reason you came in. He likes to go off on his own tangents, sometimes raising his voice in an attempt to intimidate. Sorry , does not work with me. Time to move on and see someone you can actually have an adult conversation with.

If you want the answer to the question, no one asked go see Dr. Kahane. He is very knowledgable but in short is incredibly arrogant and cycnical. Gives unsolicited advice, has zero bedside manner and is often very inappropriate and unprofessional. To say he is narrow minded, is an understatement. If you have any anxiety or fear around visiting the doctors office stay as far away from this doctor as you possibly can. Zero stars.

Great family doc all things considered. All the patients below complaining about his professionalism need to grow a pair and need to get a sense of humor. He’s pretty knowledgeable and reliable, and you don’t have to wait overly long to get an appointment. Need more docs like him in Ontario!

I went to Dr. Kahane for a while and I too echo many of the comments below. I also believe he was once a very good, caring and compassionate doctor……..but that ship has sailed. I know it is hard to find a family Dr. but I would suggest continuing to look rather than settle for Kahane, keep using “walk-in’s” until you find one you like.
Below is one of the “standard” correspondence he regularly sends out to his patients:
Hello Everyone
I wanted to take this opportunity to give you an update on the current status in our office and our plans over the holiday season.
We are trying to do more and more in-person appointments. When you call the office, if you or my receptionist believes an in-person appointment is more appropriate, then we will encourage you to come to the office. Rashes, any musculoskeletal issue, blood pressure, abdominal pain, upper respiratory symptoms all require you to come into the office.
Please make sure if you have a virtual appointment that you answer your phone. So often I call and no one answers. I have decided to call twice only. If you do not answer after the second attempt, you will forfeit the call and will be put off until another day. My cell phone has “No Caller ID” so please answer the call. Some days I am in the OR all day but even on those days I am often available for several virtual appointments. On those days I can’t promise a particular appointment time, however I will call some time during the day. I will be a little more lenient of my “2 strikes and you are out” rule on my OR days as you will not be given an assigned time slot.
With so many people sick with respiratory infections, it is hard to determine who needs to be seen and who should just stay at home in bed. My colleagues at Women’s College Hospital have created a useful document that I have attached below to help guide you. I have included it in both MS Word and PDF format.
Remember that regardless of whether you have COVID, Influenza, RSV or just a bad common cold – they are ALL VIRUSES – and as such do NOT require antibiotics. Antibiotics are not useful for viruses, only bacteria. I hope the document below and the links within it will be able to help you. If you feel you have something other than a virus, contact my office for a discussion and possible visit to see me.
Please do NOT use Wellx to ask medical questions (yes I have said this many times before but continue to have a problem with some people…!). I will not reply. Any concerns, make an appointment. Wellx is for me to notify you of results, send documents and of course send you my famous updates.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE:
I will be away December 6 – 13, 2022. In my absence, my office partners will be covering my practice for me. Please make sure all your prescriptions are up to date before the holidays. Many of you will be told to come to the office for a review prior to me just OK’ing your prescription if I haven’t seen you in some time.
Our office holiday hours are as follows:
Dec 19-23 – regular hours
December 26 and 27 – OFFICE CLOSED
December 29-30 – regular hours

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy holiday season and New Year.
