Established in 1869, it provides long-term psychiatric rehabilitation services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Services include psychiatric, medical, social work, psychological, recreational, occupational, vocational, and spiritual therapies, all focused on recovery and community reintegration. Admissions are by referral from other state facilities, community mental health centers, or acute care hospitals, primarily serving individuals covered by state funding or Medicaid. SLPRC does not operate an emergency room.
