The J. D. McCarty Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities is a 36-bed, state-owned and operated hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. Established in 1946, it is the only facility of its kind in Oklahoma, providing 24-hour residential medical care and comprehensive rehabilitative services for children and adolescents from birth to age 21 with developmental disabilities. Services include medical, nursing, physical, occupational, speech-language, and recreational therapies, as well as psychology, social services, dietary, education, and pharmacy. The center accepts Medicaid, SoonerCare, and private insurance, requiring a physician referral for admission. It does not operate as an acute care facility and does not have an emergency room.
