Danville State Hospital

Danville State Hospital was a large psychiatric hospital located in Danville, Pennsylvania, USA. Founded in 1872 as the Pennsylvania State Lunatic Hospital at Danville, it served as a state-run institution for the care of the mentally ill for over a century. The hospital closed its doors in 1987 as part of a broader movement towards deinstitutionalization and community-based mental health care. The site has since been redeveloped, and the hospital no longer operates.
