The original facility was founded in 1954. After a period of closure, it reopened in 2021 under the management of Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) as Jellico Community Hospital. It provides essential healthcare services to the rural community, including 24/7 emergency care, inpatient services, outpatient care, laboratory, radiology, physical therapy, and a primary care clinic.
