Nix Health Care System, including its primary facility Nix Medical Center, was a private acute care hospital located in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 1930, it served the community for decades. In 2012, it was acquired by Prospect Medical Holdings. The hospital ceased its inpatient operations in August 2019 due to financial challenges. The former Nix Medical Center building, located at 414 Navarro St, was subsequently acquired by University Health System and reopened in 2023 as University Health Downtown, offering various outpatient and emergency services under new management and branding. Therefore, Nix Health Care System as an operating entity no longer exists.
