📋Overview
Jiaogulan is a perennial climbing vine belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, which also includes cucumbers and gourds. Native to various regions of Southeast Asia, Japan, and China, this plant is characterized by its five-leaf clusters and is often processed into teas or dietary supplements.
This botanical ingredient is sometimes referred to as "southern ginseng" due to the presence of chemical compounds called gypenosides, which are structurally similar to the ginsenosides found in Panax ginseng. Despite these similarities, it remains a distinct species with a unique chemical profile and history of use in regional traditions.
