📋Overview
Lorenzo’s oil is a specific mixture of triacylglycerol forms of oleic acid and erucic acid (classically 4:1). It was developed for X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD). Studies show it can reduce very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), but clinical outcomes differ by patient group; evidence does not support routine use once neurologic deficits are present, while some data suggest possible preventive benefit in asymptomatic boys with normal brain MRI in certain contexts.
