๐Overview
This malformation occurs during prenatal development when the bridge of nerve fibers between the left and right sides of the brain fails to form properly. It may manifest as a total absence of the corpus callosum or as a partial defect where only certain portions of the connective tissue are present.
The condition can occur as an isolated brain abnormality or as a feature of more complex multi-system syndromes. Clinical observations suggest it may be linked to various genetic factors or chromosomal changes that influence early neurological formation.
