๐Overview
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Nystagmus (BPPN) is a legacy term often used interchangeably with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), the modern preferred term. BPPV is a common vestibular disorder characterized by brief episodes of vertigo triggered by changes in head position. It results from dislodged otoliths (calcium carbonate crystals) within the inner ear semicircular canals, causing abnormal stimulation and nystagmus (involuntary eye movements).
