๐Overview
A bone tumor develops when cells within the bone divide uncontrollably to form a mass of tissue. These growths are classified as either benign, which are noncancerous and do not typically spread, or malignant, which are cancerous and can destroy healthy bone or spread to other parts of the body.
Medical classification distinguishes between primary tumors that start in the bone and secondary tumors that have spread from other organs. While primary bone cancers include conditions such as osteosarcoma and chondrosarcoma, benign varieties such as osteochondromas are also frequently identified.
