๐Overview
Geographic tongue, also known as benign migratory glossitis, is a common inflammatory condition of the tongue characterized by irregular, map-like patches on the dorsal and lateral surfaces. These patches represent areas of depapillation (loss of filiform papillae) surrounded by slightly raised, white or yellowish borders. The condition is benign, non-contagious, and often asymptomatic, though some individuals may experience mild discomfort or sensitivity to certain substances.
