๐Overview
Clinically known as tinea cruris, this condition is a form of superficial dermatophytosis caused by fungi called dermatophytes. These organisms thrive in warm, moist environments, often resulting in a characteristic ring-shaped rash that may affect the groin, inner thighs, and buttocks.
While the infection is common and typically remains on the surface of the skin, it is closely related to other fungal conditions such as athlete's foot. The rash often presents as a red, raised area that can be uncomfortable or itchy, though it is generally considered a mild skin irritation.
