Tularemia is a bacterial infection caused by Francisella tularensis. It is a zoonotic disease transmitted to humans primarily through insect bites, direct contact with infected animals, inhalation of contaminated aerosols, or ingestion of contaminated food or water. Tularemia is also known as rabbit fever or deer fly fever. It is a rare but potentially serious illness that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.
