A first rate doctor in my experience. Very thoughtful and attentive. Always caring and compassionate. And very patient (even when patients are not).

I have been treated by Dr. Evelyn Jain over many years, on many occasions and as such I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the treatment I received under her care. I found Dr. Jain to be highly knowledgeable and very competent in her field. As a medical practioner she is “awesome” combining both a high competency skill set with a caring and understanding heart. She took the time to listen and understand before she treated me and for that I am grateful. The medical field needs more physicians like her!

I was a patient of Dr. Jain for almost all of seventeen years she practiced from her Lakeview Clinic. She looked after three generations of my family through various illnesses and childbirths with care, competence and compassion. She literally saved the lives of three members of our family by her diagnostic skills and dedication. In addition to her expertise she was always kind and pleasant.

Dr Jain was my doctor for many years before I moved cities. I was pleased with her knowledge and level of service, as I am with my current doctor. Currently, I may wait up to 30 min for my appointment and feel like I’m on the clock during it, but that’s okay. I can only go in with my primary concern and maybe sneak another small one in there, which is also fine by me. I think it is a fair expectation to wait a bit and have a limited time available for an appointment, be it a lawyer, doctor or massage therapist. Interestingly, my current doctor is rated as a 4.8 here, as she should be and as, I feel, Dr Jain ought to be also.

My husband and I and our 2 children were patients of Dr. Jain for about 15 years and were very disappointed when she closed her Lakeview practice. She had a terrific “bedside manner”, was very caring and always helped with whatever health issue we were dealing with.

I found Dr. Jain not very helpful. As a professional she seemed more dedicated to serving her own interests than the patients'. Her student (resident) doctors seem more informed than she is. I think if Dr. Jain wishes to focus on the Breastfeeding and neo natal specialties, she should do so, and leave the practice of family medicine to those who are dedicated to the full spectrum of patients who cross their threshold. I had the sense that there were exclusions and if you did not appreciate her service you would be excluded. I also did not take kindly to having what services were provided and not provided under Alberta Health Care posted all over the office. I also did not appreciate her policy that a patient could only see the doctor about one issue per visit. I felt that the latter could result in double dipping of the health care funds.

The locums are good - so they never stick around. Dr Jain should choose another profession. In the 10 plus years I have been a patient I have seen Dr Jain about 4 times - and NEVER on time. I always get the feeling they are trying to make up time lost on MY appointment. In the serious doctor shortage that we are experiencing, every doctor is busy. Makes you wonder if the shortage wasn't so severe if she would even be in business! I am perfectly happy to pay $160 for the first ONE HOUR consultation with a naturopath who will listen and is open to utilizing both eastern and western medicine techniques.

Seven months into my pregnancy I was told that they could not continue my care me as Dr. Jain was no longer delivering and the doctor who was abruptly left the practice. I later spoke with that doctor...she gave 6 months notice. Why was I not informed at that time and given the option for referral to start a relationship with a new practitioner? When her office did get me into another practice, my medical file was not sent over for 4 weeks, and then only after three phone calls from myself to follow up. I was extremely frustrated and nervous...not a great place to be in a first pregnancy with test results pending. For that, I thank you Dr. Jain.

At every appointment with Dr. Jain, I felt I had a stopwatch on my forehead, set to go off, after two minutes. One of my worst experiences involved waiting for 1 1/2 hours, having her peek her head in the examining room door, state "I'm behind and have no time for you -- your test results are fine", and then abruptly leave. She was quick to jump to conclusions -- usually wrong. I soon became afraid to ask questions, or express issues I was troubled with, for fear I'd receive a lecture. She referred to my reasonably common chronic illness as "a black whole for her", and made no attempt to become even a little bit knowledgeable about it. Her walls were plastered with patient "DO NOT" instructions, leaving me with the opinion we were a big hassle for her. The only time she displayed a good bedside manner was when a student doctor accompanied her into the examining room. Then, she was the model physician. Good riddance -- I'm glad she retired.

How rude of her and her staff to say she is taking in new clients only to close within a year of a meet-and-greet and not even have the courtesy to notify clients of her closing her doors. I found out her retirement from this website. She was an uncaring doctor at the end of her career so it was a good thing she ended it.
