Dr Jain was my Dr for a few years. I was always called in minutes before the end of my 1 hr appointment. Very frustrating for those of us who have other jobs or lives that we could be attending to. I was asked to return for test results, I asked if they could call me to return only if there were issues because I didn't want to wait and hour to be told nothing is wrong. She left a horrid voicemail saying she didn't want patients like me suggesting she was ripping off the system. I never suggested that, interesting she came to that conclusion. When I told her we weren't ready quite yet for a baby she told me I should get a hysterectamy since I was clearly irresponsible only using condoms during that "not quite yet" phase. My husband also saw her and was discouraged from returning because he was healthy. Aren't we trying to encourge more men to see their Dr? I am one of 5 friends who use to see her and found a MUCH BETTER doctor elsewhere.

Wow, I just stumbled upon Dr. Jain’s name while looking up someone else and noticed her rating. The negativity has left me saddened. She was a very caring doctor. She had some terrible family and personal health issues to deal with for about the last 8 years and retired early due to her own cancer. Her staff was not very forthcoming about her absences, I presume to protect her privacy. She was a legend in birthing and lactating. She was instrumental in getting the first birthing center in Calgary – moving away from the barbaric practices of the old ‘labour and delivery’ system. She has travelled the world teaching the virtues of breastfeeding over bottlefeeding. Babies everywhere grew into healthier adults because of her. I am glad MY daughter had the chance to know her. As someone with environmental sensitivity, I appreciated her “no perfume” rule.

I have seen Dr. Jain three times at the Lakeview Breastfeeding clinic. All three visits were rushed & I felt that all my questions were not answered. I received bad advice on the second visit and my milk supply dropped to pretty much nothing. On the third visit my baby was having a screaming fit and she got quite anoyed. I was basically told that there was nothing more she could do for me & I should get help at home to deal with him & that hopefully he’ll grow out of it. I left feeling so helpless. She said all this in front of all the other Moms who had been waiting at least an hour like me. It made me feel like I was a failure. I will not return to her & will not recommend her.

I was browsing this site as I’m looking for a new doctor. For 15 years Dr. Jain was our family doctor and took great care with my husband, me, and our two sons. I’m reading reviews here that don’t sound anything like what my experience was with her. Dr. Jain was thorough, caring, and competent. She helped us through some tough spots professionally and with concern. I’d still be going to her if her practice was open to the general public but now that she is focussed on breastfeeding, that won’t work for us. I truly think she deserves much better treatment on this site than what I’m reading.

I visited Dr. Jain for breastfeeding assistance after my first child and thanks to her I was able to breastfeed my daughter for a full year without problem. Based on the excellent result and interaction I had with Dr. Jain, I did not hesitate to contact her again when I had some breastfeeding challenges with my twins. I was able to get in to see her very quickly, and she made some recommendations to the latch for both babies; I immediately noticed a difference. In all my interactions with Dr. Jain, I have found her to be caring, compassionate and giving of her time and expertise. She is incredibly knowledgeable and in any conversations I have had with other mums, she is regarded as THE person to see regarding any breastfeeding issues. I have recommended her without hesitation to others who are expecting and will continue to do so. She is a wonderful doctor – I have always felt she is truly concerned about my babies and my well being.

I worked for Dr. Jain for several years before I went back to university and she was the best! Her dedication to medicine and the relationships she formed with her patients inspired me to go into the health profession, too. She is the type of exceptional doctor who not only improves the lives of her patients, but also her whole community (eg. women in medical school, breastfeeding education). And she was a great boss, too! 🙂
