My family Dr. made an appt. for me to see Dr. Shapiro about my gallstones. I was in to see him within 2 weeks and now surgery is scheduled. I had alot of questions and he was very patient; and took my concerns seriously. I did not feel at all rushed and was very impressed with his personal manner. I feel very comfortable knowing he is performing my surgery.

All of the above comments are correct. My husband has been under the care of Dr. Shapiro for weeks now. At first he was very helpful, informative and considerate, but as the weeks have stretched on, he has become more & more difficult to talk to. He recently made a major change in my husband's treatment without even informing my husband, much less explaining or getting permission. When I found out, I tried to get an explanation and he made a couple of snide, uninformative comments and that was the end of the conversation. Luckily I was able to guess what was going on and my husband's nurse confirmed my suspicion.

I was sent to see Dr. Shapiro by my family doctor when I had a large Gallstone. Unfortunately when the letter was sent to his office he was on holidays and then booked full of surgeries, but I was able to see him within about a month or so. He was very professional, and yes, he was quite quick with his answers, however I didn't feel that he wanted me out of his office or anything, he was happy to answer all questions I had. I was put on a waiting list for short notice required and was in for my surgery after about 2 or 3 weeks. My surgery was schedueled to be first thing, however he had a emergency surgery which bumped me back, however he did stay very late in the day to ensure all of his surgeries were completed, instead of re scheduling. I was a very nervous patient, and he was great, came to see me before my surgery and re assure me as well as after the surgery he let me know all was well. The staff at the hosiptal is phenomenal and his assistant Sherri, in the office is great too.

Our experience with Dr. Shapiro was wonderful. He has an incredible bedside manner. He was helpful and informative and very patient in answering all of our questions surrounding the potential living donor transplant between our son and myself. I felt as if we were in excellent experienced hands,trusting Dr. Shapiro with both of our lives. Thankfully we have not yet gone to transplant but our positive experience with Dr. Shapiro as we explored our options was memorable and noteworthy.

He performed an unnecessary procedure and then cut every abdominal muscle I have to remove my gallbladder. Arrogant, without a shred of compassion for his patients. Rude to his residents

He was kind, though a little sharp with his residents. Had a liver transplant. Post-op was bumpy with infection (I hear he is known for that compared to the other liver transplant surgeons) . He also dismissed a major issue we questioned, which was severe requiring further surgery when another surgeon came on service. The other two liver surgeons are better. I think some posters are confusing their stress/exhilaration of still being alive with thoughts that this man is the best that it gets

World-famed surgeon saw me within 4 days after MRI and Endoscopy plus FNA, gave a quick, clear diagnosis and prognosis, smiled, and set up follow-up. I was in excellent hands. Not a second wasted, full medical terms: treated me as a thinking adult. A+

Dr. Shapiro saved my husband’s life, not once, but twice. He received liver transplants in December 2004 and again in March 2016 due to recurring liver disease. This man is absolutely amazing….brilliant….extraordinary. We are so thankful and blessed to have had him as our surgeon. Thank you Dr. Shapiro.
