Same here , like previous comments. Dr. Chow ignored me on the spot, totally dismissed me, he don’t want to send me for any scans because I have very weird symptoms. Do not recommend Dr. Michael Chow for anyone.

Dr. Chow explained everything I needed to know before my brain surgery. I felt very comfortable and was not worried at all before the surgery. To me, someone with high anxiety, this was extremely important that I felt very safe with him performing my surgery. Excellent doctor!!

I met with Dr. Chow today I was referred to him For a condition that I have been diagnosed with. ACM type 1. He completely dismissed me told me none of my symptoms are related to my condition. Refused to monitor me over the next while, or do any further testing. I absolutely will not be going back that experience was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any doctor. He was irritated he even had to meet with me. Unreal.

Dr. Chow took over in 2018 from Dr. Steinke back in 2002. Large Aneurysm found in 2001 and another found in 2018 now Dr. Chow h.as found another in 2020 so he is keeping an eye on it just in case i get another one in a bad area. The damage from the first one makes it almost impossible to operate again. Thank you for being such a fantastic Neurosurgeon.

Excellent doctor. He explained everything to me in detail and ensured that I wouldn’t worry. He called me after to let me know what kind of tumour I had and is ensuring proper follow ups. Thank you so much!

I was disappointed with Dr. Chow's treatment of my issue. He said numerous times (in the two meetings that we had) that he had never seen what I have and that if I did have surgery it would be challenging (surgery and recovery) and require two surgeons. Instead of finding someone who could give a definitive answer to my medical problem, he sent me away and told me to increase my medication to help with the pain, as he was unsure what to do. I understand, and appreciate, caution when dealing with such major surgery... but I am young, still in pain and my mobility and life is deeply affected. I am saddened that the cause is still not addressed and that a multitude of drugs covers the the problem.

Dr.Chow, was very good to answer all my questions before I chose to do the surgery. The day of the surgery we connected again to discuss my expectations were and what he felt he would be able to do to meet them with the surgery. The surgery was an immediate success and after 3 yrs of intense nerve pain, I am pain free. From stuffing myself with numerous drugs within 4 weeks of surgery I am down to one medication and weaning off of them as well. He and his team at the U of A have given me my life back. Thank you!

I was diagnosed with a cavernous malformation in my temporal lobe and got flown into U of A and Dr.Chow was my attending physician. Im from out of province and Dr.Chow and his team have been excellent and very helpful when it comes to my situation. My 2nd consultation which was originally scheduled for 15 minutes, went on for 45 minutes because Dr.Chow wanted me to feel fully informed. As I write this, Dr Chow's team has scheduled me in 2 months early for a craniotomy since they had a cancelation and they knew I was from out of province.

Dr. Chow and his surgical team recently performed a procedure to implant a stent in my cerebral artery. He and the other team members were extremely professional, personable and knowledgeable. The procedure was a success from start to finish. My family and I are so grateful for all the great care and support we received from his team and the staff in the 4A4 ICU in The University of Alberta Hospital.
