Extremely knowledgeable. Excellent bedside manner, extremely confident in with the quality of his care. Very impressed with the breadth of his experience. He delivered our child and handles the medical needs of both my wife and myself. Highly reccommended if you are fortunate enough to be taken as a patient.

Dr. Kahane has horrible bedside manners. It’s true. What do I mean? He’ll often swear and cuss while expressing his disdain over your questions/concerns – not at you but he’ll throw it out there as he expresses his frustration. His listening skills are lacking. He cuts you off while you are trying to explain something to interject his trademark sarcasm. He’ll diagnose the threat of certain things on the fly without really taking a careful look or even recommending a specialist (what happened to science?). It seems he’s more concerned with billing his fees not covered by OHIP than about your health. He never explains potential side effects until it happens to you and Dr. Google let’s you know it’s a result of the medication. He never tells you a procedure or treatment requires you to pay out-of-pocket (no OHIP coverage) . He is very quick to dismiss treatments, tests as unnecessary – this part is quite unnerving, actually. He’s not an evil man, but he’s not a kind man either. He comes across like a jock with unrefined locker room manners – such people should not be in the care industry, let alone treat patients who require compassion and not judgement. But, judge he does. And he isn’t afraid to voice his judgements out loud. It’s sad that he lost his way somewhere along the line….and now to make matters worse, he is teaching/training new Doctors his brand of medicine. Patients don’t need more Doctors like this man. I’ll be starting my search for a new Family Physician.

Utterly worthless doctor. Save your time and potentially your life by going to see somebody else.
I genuinely believe that he actually has (or maybe once had) some underlying medical talent, but his poor bedside manner, unwillingness to truly listen to his patients, and his poor staff make him a terrible doctor.
I have had my share of medical troubles throughout my life, and I can honestly say that I have never dealt with a worse doctor than Kahane.

I have not been back to see Mr. Kahane in almost a year. He has terrible bedside manner being very dismissive and not listening to your actual needs. Due to his dismissive nature I was hospitalized for almost a week due to my sickness, which he originally attributed to me ‘faking’ it. He told me the pain i was experiencing was in my head, or possibly due to my usage of birth control. When I asked if I could have a ultrasound of my abdominal region he said I did not need it. He does not give any alternative options or referrals to any other doctor, even when you ask him to. In my personal opinion I believe his medical licence should be revoked.
I would NEVER recommend his practice to anyone. The fact that he is teaching new doctors (residents) terrifies me.

Dr Kahane is friendly with great bedside manner. I feel he could be a little more open minded. His office is very well run and efficient. I like that all of his notes are electronic and easy for follow-up visits. He seems knowledgeable and kind.

Sarcastic? Absolutely! It’s part of his charm. Make no mistake, though, he cares, he does due diligence, and provides good service. Years ago, when I had a very serious issue (coughing blood!) he went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of, and even contacted me after hours to make sure all was well until we confirmed what was causing it and put me on the correct treatment. As for the staff, they’re always courteous and professional. Since you get what you give in this world, I have to wonder just how poorly behaved previous commenters were…. something to think about.
