📋Overview
Chickenpox, also known as varicella, is a viral infection characterized by itchy skin eruptions and systemic symptoms. The condition is highly transmissible and occurs most frequently among children, though it can affect individuals across all age groups.
The virus responsible for the infection remains in the body after the initial symptoms resolve. In some instances, this dormant virus can reactivate later in life to cause a different clinical condition known as herpes zoster or shingles.
