Diabetes Insipidus
📋Overview
Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a disorder characterized by excessive thirst and excretion of large amounts of dilute urine. It results from impaired regulation of water balance due to deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH, also called vasopressin) or kidney resistance to ADH. The term 'diabetes insipidus' is distinct from diabetes mellitus and refers specifically to this water balance disorder.
