Eaton-Lambert Syndrome
๐Overview
Eaton-Lambert Syndrome, also referred to as Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome, occurs when the immune system interferes with the chemical signals sent from nerves to muscles. This autoimmune process targets the neuromuscular junction, which can lead to muscle weakness and fatigue in various parts of the body.
This condition may occur as a standalone autoimmune disorder or in association with an underlying malignancy. It is frequently linked to small cell lung cancer, though the syndrome can also develop in individuals who do not have an underlying cancer diagnosis.
